A : This is an account that will enable the Cardholder to access the funds they have in their account by utilizing their Star Debit Card throughout the United States at point of sale terminals and ATM's displaying the STAR network logos.
A : A Prepaid Card allows the Cardholder to manage their money more efficiently by only spending the money available in their account, thereby avoiding the tendency to overspend. A credit card allows people to spend the credit card issuer's money, up to the credit limit that has been set for them, and repay it at a later date. The credit card issuer charges interest each month on the outstanding balance. Many consumers find this convenient, but find it difficult to make the payments when the bill is received, and therefore can find themselves with unmanageable debt very quickly. With the Prepaid Card, you spend only the money you have deposited for use.
A : No, we do not issue credit cards.
A : Yes, you may use it at any location that displays the proper logos.
A : Your card is not a credit card, therefore there is no credit limit. The Cardholder may only spend what has been deposited to their Prepaid Card Account.
A : At this time the maximum balance allowed in your Prepaid Card Account is $5,000, unless you have a direct deposit of your payroll or other regularly occurring payments that are greater than that amount. Deposits, other than Direct Deposits, that exceed the maximum account limit will be returned.
A : You must make sure that you have activated the card in order to use it, and that you have deposited money into your account to cover your monthly service charges and all your transactions.
A : When you receive your card, simply call the toll free number on the sticker that is on the front of you new card.
A : Yes, if the companies for which you want to pay your bill accept Visa® or STAR.
A : You must have enough money in your account to cover the purchase or withdrawal you are attempting to make. If not, you will be denied and the transaction will not be processed.
A : Unless you checked your balance prior to attempting to make your purchase, it is possible that a service charge or other fee may have been applied prior to your most recent purchase, which would decrease the balance available to you. If you recently used the card to make a gas purchase, hotel or car rental, there may be a "hold" balance pending. These holds are usually cleared within 24 hours of the purchase. This is a Visa® regulation for these types of businesses.

A : You can access your Prepaid Card Account online by logging into "My Activa" page.
A : The system will automatically show the current month's transactions and information. You can also view the fee schedule for various transactions.

A : Not at this time. However, you can make real time "account-to-account" transfers as long as both cards are issued by the same bank.
A : Debits (purchases) and credits (deposits) post to your account at the time they are received for processing. Funds are taken from your Prepaid Card Account in real time.
A : Automated Clearing House is a funds transfer system which provides for the interbank clearing of electronic entries for participating financial institutions.
A : If the ATM is located outside the branch of a bank, go inside and report the incident to a bank employee. In most cases, the card cannot be returned to you and the bank representatives are instructed to destroy it. If the ATM is not located outside the branch of a bank the card cannot be retrieved.
A : Card accounts are held individually. As a Primary Cardholder, if you desire to have one of your family members or another individual on an account for which you are responsible, they would be called a Sub-account Cardholder. In this case, as the Primary Cardholder you can access their account and place restrictions on their account, such as setting dollar limits on transactions. You and the Sub-account Cardholder must complete an application, and you are responsible for ALL activity that takes place on that card. These cards are typically used for teenagers under the age of 18 and/or away from home for any reason.
